Hello,
I am a new stove owner, guided to this lovelly stove by my best friend who owns 2 stoves in N.Carolina.
I bought the stove in San Diego and now have to get it to my house in northern California. I have a Dodge Dakota Sport with a 5ft.x5ft bed. My self and my very strong daughter and the 2 guys in San Diego selling the stove are who I have to load it. I have a hand truck, blankets, access to tools. Think 4 average strength people can lift this stove into the back of my pick-up? Then it's a 10 hour drive home with my new stove. Any thoughts? Advice?

I too have a Dodge Dakota and was some 300 miles away from home when I purchased my Chambers Model B. I rented a U-Haul trailer oneway for less then $50.00.... This was a good way to get her home because she was covered the entire way. Plus, when I arrived at home.... and it was just myself and the little wifey... we were able to unload it out the back.... My advice is to rent a U-haul and go for it....

Congrats on your new stove. Putting a stove in the back of a pickup is no problem, and you've got more than enough people to do it.

Lots of hints can be found under the topic "Moving a Chambers Stove" if you search the archives. Look at the thread from Dec. 31, 2005, and you'll find plenty of specifics.

Your story made me smile - I live in Southern Calif and made the long drive to Palo Alto to get my stove. :-)

Gassy is right - do yourself a favor and rent the U-Haul trailer.
